Fr. Al Alilio

Father Al


Rev. Fr. Alfred Francis M. Alilio was born on January 28, 1965 in Dolores, Quezon, Philippines to parents Nicolas Almendras Alilio Sr.
and Luz Cauyan Magkawas. He is the oldest of 4 children: Theresa Alilio-Baguisa, who lives in Surrey, BC; Nicholas Alilio Jr., who lives in
the Philippines and Joseph Alilio, who lives in Markham, Ontario. Father Al attended three elementary schools: Our Lady of Fatima Canossa College,
San Pablo City (1971-1973); Dolores Central School, Dolores, Quezon (1973-1975); and Ateneo de San Pablo, San Pablo City (1975-1977).

He entered the seminary when he was 12 years old, attending Our Lady of Carmel Seminary in Sariaya, Quezon from 1977-1981. He continued his
seminary formation at St. Francis De Sales College Seminary in Marauoy, Lipa City from 1981-1986 (he was on regency from 1982-1983).

In 1986, he entered St. Alphonsus School of Theology in Isabang, Lucena City and remained there until 1991. He was ordained a deacon on
February 23, 1991 and ordained a priest on June 22, 1991.
His first assignment was to attend the Catholic School of Evangelization for Asia in Lucena City, Philippines from July 1991-December 1991.
On December 5, 1991, he was appointed Parochial Vicar (Associate Pastor) at St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish in Pagbilao, Quezon, and attending
priest at St. Anne’s Parish in Malicboy, Pagbilao, Quezon. After 2 years, he was assigned as Parochial Vicar to St. Jude Thaddeus
Diocesan Shrine in Cotta, Lucena City.

In 1995 he was sponsored by his sister to come to Canada. He was first assigned to St. Mary’s Parish in Brampton, Ontario from August 1995-June 1999.
He was a guest priest in the parish of St. Mary’s-Stony Hill in Watchung, New Jersey, from September 1999-July 2000. In October 2000 he became the
Associate Pastor of St. John Vianney Parish in Barrie, Ontario and remained there until June 2003. He was also stationed at St. Joseph’s Parish in Kingston,
Ontario from July 2004-July 2006. He became an Administrator to two Ontario parishes, St. Laurence O’Toole in Spencerville and St. Theresa in North Augusta,
from July 2006-July 2008. After these two parishes, he was assigned as Administrator at St. John’s Parish in Perth, Ontario until July 2010.

After a sabbatical year he was appointed Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, Victoria BC, effective August 1, 2011.
